Going to ‘Nam
Hello faithful readership! The three of you that read this probably already know that I’m going to Vietnam for nearly two weeks. This time I’m LEAVING MY COMPUTER at home. It will be a long, tough withdrawal hopefully tempered by bowls of pho.
I’m flying into Hanoi with Andy tonight, where we will meet up with my good friend from high school (who is a doctor!) and spend two days before taking a junk cruise on Ha Long Bay. From there, we are meeting up with some friends of friends in Hoi An, where I plan to do nothing, but read and bike to the beach. Finally, we’ll go all the way down to Ho Chi Minh City, where I will feel all sorts of guilt for a war that ended before I was even born; what we call the Vietnam war, they call the American war.
I have a few posts from Singapore that I’ll put up in the meantime, but you can follow me on Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook if you want live updates.

Have a great trip!
I am really jealous, it doesn’t look like we will make it to anywhere other than Japan this year. Booo.
As a Japanophile, I wish my problem was that I couldn’t get out of Japan this year!
I didn’t realize this was an already planned trip! Have so much fun!
I’m pretty good at stalking you via twitter already, if I could just put in a little request… LOTS OF PICTURES OF FOOOOOD, please!!!
Being a Japanese-American at WWII memorials in Japan is always an interesting experience.
Also, I don’t recommend reading while biking. The last person I saw doing it ran into a fence.
No reading while biking!! Haha. I have been riding a motorbike like a crazy Vietnamese woman, though. And I’m not gonna lie, I feel like a total badass on the moto! I’m taking food pictures as I go, but my traveling companions are not blessed with the iron stomach, so street food and weirdo food has been a little less than usual this time around.
Hope the logistics work out better than the last trip!
